When I suggested using Mary’s scale I had no intention of even mentioning the meds the patient would or should receive for each lol. Sometimes I want to say, hey I’m going to give you Percocet or morphine or dilaudid whatever number you give me because the patients seem to want to have to justify getting the meds they are wanting or needing. I have no problem giving the meds, if the patient can continue to breathe, the whole number thing just irritates me because some feel they must say something above a 7 to get anything which is not true. If a patient can be maintained on Percs q 4 for instance if their pain is a 2 I would love to keep it there.
