Sometimes the end to suffering is actually a blessing for them and those who see them suffer. ” When you have a little “seasoning” on you, you will better understand that concept. Watching someone struggle with every breath, enduring the pain and humiliation of decubitis and the subsequent treatments, the fear and anxiety of progressive memory loss, and so many other chronic progressive conditions you will rejoice in the release from the pain and losses that the patient and their loved ones experienced. Tears may flow (after 22 years I still get them) but now it’s from the joy of knowing that someone I truly cared for is no longer suffering.
