I’m a natural night shifter. Before having a child, I would stay up all night and sleep all day, even on my nights off work. I would go years without seeing that big, bright, burning thing in the sky … it hurts my eyes and burns my skin … I don’t like it. After having a child, I had to start switching back and forth between day schedule and night schedule, and that is VERY hard on me. Ended up getting dependent on sleeping pills, and still have a hard time if I have to wake up too early in the AM … I”ll have a migraine for sure if I wake up too early.
I don’t have a good method to tell you on how to switch back and forth, but I do recommend you try to stick to the same schedule as much as possible, even on your nights off, as it is the switching schedule that takes years off of your life, even more than the night shift schedule.
