I actually had a wound that was lightly colonized with mrsa about 8 years ago. Whwn I had my knee replaced a year and a half ago, I had to get nasally cleared, even though I had been nasally cleared twice a year after the infection. My primary called and told them I had been cleared, but they wouldn’t believe her. It was crazy, I had been mostly prepped, received some meds, and then I was cancelled and sent home. Both the swab they did that day and the next were negative, so I had surgery the following day.
It is ridiculous how over the top they get about MRSA. I was treated with Bactrim and got rid of it easily.
