I, too, have been trying to figure out what to do. I have almost 18 years in as an Associate’s prepared RN. I worked in dialysis for most of my career and thought that by changing to another type of nursing (not chronic care) I wouldn’t feel burned out. Well, a year into my new position (yes, the change helped for about 10 months), I am realizing that I just need to get away from hands on care….I am getting burned out again.
My dilemma: do I get my BSN and hope to find a job with an insurance company or community teaching (like diabetes educator, etc…) or just get out of nursing completely?
Part of me just wants OUT completely, but I have no idea what to even pursue. Going back to school wold be ok. I am “only” 40, but I don’t even know where to start.
Any other ideas appreciated….but mostly, thanks for the opportunity to get it off of my chest!
