In response to KatiemomRN dated Oct 2nd, I honestly respect your feelings on LPN’S as myself, being one for 25 years, as well as a Paramedic. I hold many Certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NALS, BTLS, BCLS Instructor, BCLS- Healthcare Provider, I have worked Critical Care in a Level 1 Trauma Center, was voted ‘NURSE OF THE YEAR’ by my fellow coworkers (R.N.s and LPN’s) and guess who the ED Physicians go to when they need something done ‘right’, and Guess who all of the new Nurses (R.N.s for the most part) are assigned to when they start working in the ED, you guessed it, ME the LPN! I am not quite sure what to make of your remark about ‘the current research shows’, where are you getting your information? I agree, R.N.s should be paid more for their Degree, However, I do NOT agree with them making such a difference in the shift Diff, as we all are away from home, families, friends, missing out on the same things R.N.s miss out on. I strongly believe that all Nurses be it LPN or R.N. should be paid the SAME shift Diff! Does anyone else out there feel the same?
