I have been an LPN for 28 years and I have seen a world of changes in the nursing field. I have no fear because I am very close to retirement, but I tell young prospects not to bother with the LPN program because it’s about to become distinct. All of the hospitals in my area are forcing their ADN nurses to get their BSN, and LPN’s aren’t even allowed in their doors. I have seen this happen in 2 states in the last 4 years.
If you’re an LPN, you need to either seek higher education or change career fields. The writing is on the wall!
