Donna: You mention you have seen some tattoos that are “obscene” and you would not have them on your body. I too have seen some that showed a lack of good taste, such as “peckerwood” tattooed over the upper lip and various curse words on the hands.
My question to you is, would you support an admin decision for nurses to cover up “obscene” tattoos? If so, do you trust your admin to decide which tattoos are obscene and which are not? Just wondering. For a while we had nurses covering up nose piercings, and I always thought the covers looked worse than the piercing, and I think nurses look silly wearing long sleeve turtle neck shirts in the summer to cover up tattoos.
