In most cases I think the cover ups look worse than the actual tat or piercing. We used to have many nurses with bandaids on their noses, which looks silly. Wearing long sleeves or turtle necks in the summer is just crazy. I’ve seen some tats that I wouldn’t want a co-worker to be showing the public, such as [deleted], but in most cases, I don’t think it should be a big deal.
I’m not a big fan of facial piercings either, but looking at a big bandaid on their face isn’t any better. I think it is time for bosses and society to judge us by our skills and not our looks. Sure, some old people don’t like the looks of tats and piercings, like myself, but it wasn’t that long ago when people didn’t like the looks of male nurses, or nurses of a different color than they.
