If you are the experienced nurse and she is new, then show her your maturity and kindness and empathy. If possible, talk to her in person, not on the phone. It would improve communication to have the face to face. Find out her background and see if you have any thing in common with her,. Ask her how her orientation is going and how she likes the job. Offer to be a buddy if she needs or wants some one to be a resource for her.

In your original question, you come across as anxious and stressed and insecure. When you got a response from Jason, you replied in a defensive way. At least that is how it comes across to me. So I agree that you need to work on your communication and see what you can do to improve your working relationship with this nurse. So many older nurses “eat the young” Don’t be one of them!
