Yesterday I was the triage nurse in the ER and it was a total spankfest all day. Finally got down to one patient left to be triaged, with several in the waiting room after being triaged, and the entire ER full, so I went to lunch, handing the triage phone off to another nurse. He managed to do a few triages and took an ambulance while I was gone, but when I came back there were TEN waiting to be triaged, and they kept coming faster than I could get to them. Before too long, there were more patients in the waiting room that hadn’t been triaged yet than in the rest of the hospital combined! There actually is a scroll bar which pops up for the waiting room list when it goes off the bottom of the page … I had never seen that many out there before which needed the scroll bar. The charge nurse started triaging some in the spare room, but I was totally burned out of triaging by the end of that shift.

Whine complete, thank you for your time.

Suck. Fest. Didn’t get any prettier after you left. Still had a full ER @ 0300. Ugly.

Dude … the place is killing me. I go back tomorrow, but I have this *cough cough.* Thanks for your help … I don’t think I could have survived doing any more triages by the end of my shift.
