Nurses get abused a lot more than people would think. I once got a black eye from a bed control being tossed at my face! What has happened to you over the years?

I once got bit by a pt with severe dementia! She was positive that I was having an affair with her husband (who had passed away about 10 years ago!!)

I was a night shift ER nurse and thanks to an alcoholic dementia 50ish year old I had to have rotator cuff surgery on my dominant arm! Gotta love being a nurse!

I don’t think facilities take this seriously enough. It’s one thing if the patient is demented another thing entirely if they’re just mean. And they know they can get by with this sort of stuff. Assault is assault. If there were consequences to both the assaulter and the facility you’d see a big change in attitude in both.
