When a parent comes into the ER with their kids, and then needs to go off to surgery or some DI test which is going to take quite a while, we will often have CNAs ‘baby sit” the kids? Do you find this to be the case in your facility and if so, so you think it fits in your job description?

If baby sitting for patients’ kids does not happen often, I would look at the situation as an opportunity to extend help. Nurses can really be very flexible, and as for me, there is nothing wrong in looking after a kid for a few minutes or (short) hours as long as baby sitting does not become a regular thing.
