    I should take the CEN (certified emergency nurse) test because my hospital actually pays more if you are certified in the specialty in which you work. Each specialty has its own criteria you have to meet before taking the test, such as having worked so many hours in the last two years in that department. Some require a BSN, which I do not have myself.

    Do you think LPNs who have worked in a specialty department for years and takes a full load of patients should be allowed to take these certification tests? I know that the LPN who trained me to work in the ER was a much better ER nurse than I am.
