What do you love the most about being a nursing assistant?
What do you wish RNs knew about CNAs that would help them fit you into the team better? My unit typically doesn’t have a CNA, but we are starting to get one to help out, but it is unclear how we can use them since we are used to doing everything ourselves.
I love my interaction with my residents. Making them smile and having them know that someone loves them, especially the ones who don’t get visitors from family. i could be the reason they smile that day.
I am currently in nursing school and almost finished. Currently I am a CNA on a med-surg floor and I love my job and the experience it is giving me. Jason, having CNA’s are great they will do anything for you but just remember not to take advantage of them. On our floor the nurse ratio is 1:6 and there are sometimes I have up to 18 patients that I am bathing, changing their linens, putting them on a bedpan or assisting them to a bedside commode or bathroom, getting ice and snacks. This is giving the nurses time to do their assessments, meds and documentation. CNA’S and Nurse’s make a great team and helps more with patient centered care.
