This is something new our DON came up with this year. Is it possible for a cna to evaluate a nurse. Not just as a supervisor, but the nursing process and judgement as a nurse. I’m confused!

No. Not a good idea at all. They don’t have the knowledge to evaluate nurses. A CNA IS NOT A NURSE!!

I feel like we should be able to. I’ve been a CBS for twenty years and have seen some of the most pitiful nurses I have ever seen. Not saying all nurses are bad but we do work with you. You nurses evaluate us. I know some nurses that have worked with do nonsterile procedures that if state knew they were doing it, they wouldn’t have a job. Just saying

No! A CNA is not a nurse. The relationship between the nurse and the CNA may be all they can evaluate. How can they evaluate performance when they do not know the performance standards, processes, or rationales. Even in court a defendant is evaluated by his/her peers!
