What is the best degree to go for after your BSN is done?

Totally depends on what you want to do. I always knew I wanted to be a nurse practitioner, so I enrolled in a DNP program for that. If you want to teach, an MSN in nursing education is out there. If you want to specialize in informatics, administration, etc., those programs are out there, too. Don’t be afraid to go outside the nursing world, either. A good RN friend of mine just finished law school, with designs on a career in healthcare law. The great thing about nursing is that you can do anything with time, effort and tuition money! (Now if I could just decide where I wanted to specialize……)

I was actually thinking about law school. Was your friend able to work while going to law school?

Tammy – Yes, but she was very busy! We are both active duty military, and she found a military-friendly (AKA schedule-flexible) law school. It can be done, but it’s a lot to manage.
