Looking at a small study relating divorce rates to professions, nurses were in the top ten. Nurses are known for being the most honest and one of the most respected professions, so why do you think nurses are also so much more likely than the general public to get divorced?

Because we work crazy hours, are stressed beyond reason, and carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. Also, as hard as they might try our spouses unless nurses themselves can’t understand what we go through. My husband tries and listens but he still can’t quite have the kind of empathy we need and that we receive from fellow nurses. That’s my opinion for what it’s worth lol

Very true, Lisa. My husband and I went through a never-ending stream of issues in our marriage and in the end it was my career choice that had the biggest negative influence. He didn’t and still doesn’t quite understand the stress level, but we are getting there.

We also have the tendency to marry those who need help or enter into unhealthy relationships.
