In my youth, I used to let anyone who wanted poke me with a needle for the practice, but as I get older, I worry that I might actually need those veins someday and my willingness to let people practice on me is diminished. I let one student put an NG tube down me … but that wasn’t any fun, so I don’t let them do that anymore either.

What is the worst thing you have let a student do to you for practice and what will you still let them do?

NOTHING! They can practice on patients, just like I did.

I did until I got a nasty hematoma on my hand!

When I was in LPN training (back in the dark ages) we practiced on each other for extra credit. I did put my foot down on NG tube insertion, ewwww 😛
