Ok where can I find information on people such as CNA/CMA claiming openly to being a Nurse? I have a CMA telling people OPENLY that she is a Nurse. She just doesn’t understand that she can not do this. She told a co-worker she was the same as us just a different title… no joke. So if you know where I can find the penalties of false claims to being a nurse that would be great. Thanks to all my REAL nurses on Mighty Nurse. lol

I’m not sure if there are federal laws dealing with this, but I know many states (if not all) have penalties for impersonating a nurse. In 2007 a woman in OK was arrested for impersonating an OB nurse. Not only is it illegal, I’m sure it is against your hospitals code of conduct and misleading/dishonest statements like this to patients are a big no no.

She just doesn’t understand the seriousness of doing this. She’s a good CMA but a nurse she will never be. Common sense is a MUST have in our profession and something she lacks in. I correct her when I hear this. I had a mutual friend tell me that she told her she was a nurse at a VA center. I can’t believe she had the nerve to say she is the SAME as nurses are. Umm NO… She has not a clue as to the knowledge/skills we have.

    Oh boy i despise this!!
I work in the ICU and the skill/knowledge that is required surpasses a CNA role!
