Starting this Fall, I will be a senior nursing student. I have been applying for nurse tech/extern positions for quite some time now. It’s really discouraging when you try and try just to never receive a phone call and get rejected. I have a pretty high GPA and a small amount of medical experience from a substance abuse clinic. I just don’t understand why it’s so hard to find a tech position somewheres. Any one have any suggestions? I’d really like to get my foot in the door.
Brooke: not to single you and your thread out, but I’m leaving it as is so everyone can see what I’m saying. If you are going to ask for advice about finding a position, PLEASE give people enough information so they can help you. What part of the country are you from? Job opportunities tend to have regional patterns. What city are you in? Are you willing to travel far for a position? What type of nursing do you want to do?
The more information you share, the better the advice will be when people write back. I don’t want to give you the typical “Keep trying” “Hang in there” “Apply to several places” advice. You may live in the same city as another nurse on here who works in a facility that is looking for someone just like you … let us know more so we can help you.
