I am an RN student nurse and will graduate in May. A couple of weeks ago I was taking care of a patient on the cardio/pulmonary floor who tested positive for MRSA and had pneumonia and sepsis. The patient also had a history of a past MI and CAD. As I was reviewing her chart I noticed that her labs indicated that she had a UTI and also a possible MI happening due to her troponin level being quite elevated. The doctor had already gone through her chart that morning and there was clearly no indication that he had noticed this. As a nurse how do you kindly let a doctor know that they missed something like this without offending them?
