I have been in recovery for seven years, and I had been on probation which was successfully completed. I find it is impossible to find employment, I have two degrees and I am currently 1/2 way through my M.S.N., I have applied for dialysis, case management, insurance companies, and every job a nurse can do. I have sent out over 700 resumes and applications. I am willing to relocate to any state. Does anyone know a place that actually believes in recovery and would hire me? It is unbelievable how many hospitals that have recovery programs but will never hire anyone who is in recovery!

If you have an unrestricted license you should be able to work anywhere unless a previous employer or you state Board black balled you. Take it one day at a time and pray on it. You can touch so many lives because you’re a survivor.

I forgot to mention if you’re restricted you’re pretty much limited to your state of primary licensure. If you’re in a board mandated recovery program find another nurse who has a job and network in that environment. Part of recovery is learning humility and humbling yourself.
