So I have been a nurse at a clinic for several years now. The people are great, I’ve grown attached to my patients…on a whim I applied for a government job “just to see what happens”. Well what happened is I got the job. More days off, more money, great benefits, more experience. I’m not sure what to do. (Sounds stupid I know). Do I stay where I am happy and comfortable…or venture into unknown territory? My current job does not want me to leave…

    There’s a reason you applied.

I’m personally feeling the same way. But I’ve come to realize that what’s so great about being a nurse is the opportunities we have. If you leave your current job on good terms then you can always try to return if you don’t like the new job. It sounds like your new job has a lot to offer. I think you should take a little risk and give it a try. Good luck!

I I did the same thing 3 years ago. Now I feel it was a mistake. Find out why there was an opening was it due to promotion or did the person move away, or was it because the job was crappy. I signed a four yr contract and now regret it. I am stuck in a bad situation that management has created a hostile environment. Money isn’t everything. At the position your at you know how you will be treated. I suggest you research were you might be going before leaving.
