What task have you been the most nervous about performing? Starting an IV on a co-workers baby, first female Foley cath, telling a mother her son has died, etc?

I had to start an IV on a very sick co-worker with difficult veins. She’s a gossiper so I was definitely not looking forward to the extra pressure of her complaining about me after if I wasn’t successful on the first try. Luckily I was…. now I’m her favorite “go-to” person for hard sticks.

Any procedure that I have to perform with family members standing over me telling me how to do my job! Nothing annoys me more than family members who google something and think they know more or better than the dr or nurse that is taking care of their loved one. I get it! You care, are concerned! But get off my back and away from over my shoulder and let me do my job!
