I live in the Texas panhandle, so there are work opportunities in three states available to me, two of which are not compact license states ( Kansas and Oklahoma). And in a few years we will be moving, and depending on what kind of house we find, we may be on the Oklahoma or Texas side. I want to be able to work in either state, at will. Is this possible? Everything i have read says that as soon as you get a license in another state, you will lose your Texas license. Please forgive me if this is a dumb question, I am a relatively new nurse and have always lived and worked in Texas. So is it possible to hold licenses in states you don’t technically live in?

I used to have current licenses in both Oregon and Washington. I let the Oregon one lapse after moving back to WA, but I have never heard of any state that dropped you for getting another one. As far as I can tell, as long as you keep sending them money, that is all they really care about.
