    Hello fellow Nurses and Grads,

I have recently received my license in Texas and am applying for jobs. I noticed that a lot of the well known hospitals in the Houston area require a 3.0 or higher to even be interviewed. To say the least I spend two days talking with a recruiter only to be turned down because my gpa didnt meet the requirement. So, yes, I began fuming. What does gpa matter in the nursing profession if I am licensed? Thanks.

I’ve never had GPA come up on any job application or interview. I do believe the nurse shortage is over and companies are being able to be as picky as they want, and usually over something that looks good on paper but does not translate into being the right nurse for the job (see other post about Dept. of health turning me down for lack of BSN.)

My program considering anything less than a B failing…I know lots of programs are the same.
