Would you rather work with a new grad RN or a 10 year LPN?

Veteran LPN! Simply based on the acquired experience in the field.. although the scope of practice differs, working with a brand new RN would become a teaching session…then again we all have to start somewhere right?

On the other hand it depends how you look at it…the prospective graduate could bring a fresh new mind complete with a blank slate ready to learn anything and everything… vs. someone who’s been through the trenches and have possibly become desensitized, stuck in there ways and worn throughout the years. So is the glass half empty or half full? Hmmm..

Veteran LPN. Personally I don’t mind work with new grads, however I enjoy working with veteran staff in general but I’m always hoping to learn something new from them.

Veteran LPN. Not that I mind new grads, but appreciate the experience of a veteran nurse.
