Has anyone ever worked at a facility in which once someone has worked their way up the pay scale and was making a considerable amount more than a new grad, that the administration would find ways to terminate the experienced nurse, as it would be cheaper to hire someone with less experience?

This is true, unfortunately. If we encourage our young nurses to invest in a retirement plan since day 1… This situation wouldn’t be a problem. This profession is not geared to that.. Most of the time nurses are the breadwinners in families. Invest.. Invest!!! Enjoy life. Plan your lifestyle within your means.

    Twice in the last years

We have the opposite problem we have a lot of older nurses who are not keeping up with the technologies or medical updates but they refuse to retire even though they have the age and time.
