    Hi All,

    Would you like to share your best practices for teaching Colostomy Irrigation. Do you have any suggestions of what supplies would be needed to teach on a Geri Manikin?

    You’ll need the basic irrigation kit which would include a plastic irrigating container with a long tube and a tip, an irrigation sleeve to carry the output and a tail closure clip and belt for the sleeve. Make sure students practice getting the water to move into the bowel slowly, it’s not a race! Also use luke-warm water. Oh, and remember to remove bubbles before hand by letting a bit of the water flow before introducing the tube into the stoma. Happy practicing!
