In our old computer system, the CNAs could put in orders which were part of our standing orders/protocols, such as EKGs for the chest pains. With the change of computer systems, they say the CNAs can no longer put the order in the computer, it has to be entered by and MD or RN (we no longer have LPNs). This takes the RN out of the room to enter the order so it can flow through the air to the EKG machine and sync with the patient data.

Can CNAs where you work put orders into the computer if there is a standing order for it?
