I’m set to graduate on October 1, and I’m told that the turn around for taking the NCLEX is fairly quick due to not having to compete with other nursing schools this time of year. My question is when should I start applying for jobs? I’ve had some instructors say wait until you get your license while others say that it’s okay to start applying now. Any suggestions?

I vote sooner is better. Be honest with your time frame and some places will have you start non-clinical hospital orientation early, and some states have graduate nurse positions. Also, most places hold your application for a year, so even if there isn’t a job when you turn it in, if one opens up in the month between, you are still good.
