I had my EMT certificate while I had my LPN, and loved the pre-hospital work. After getting my RN degree, my first job required that I cancel my EMT certificate because the malpractice insurance company would not cover me as a nurse if I was also an EMT. The state said, just don’t renew it and it will go away on your birthday, but because I needed to drop the certificate before I could accept the new job, I had to fill out a bunch of paper work to have them revoke my EMT certificate before it expired.

Has anyone else had any conflicts between working in a facility as a nurse and working as an EMT?
